Lord, teach me how to pray. Give me the words to say. I would pray for world peace And for hunger to cease, And wisdom for our leaders every day. I would pray for my children, dear, And for friends both far and near. Lord, all I'm asking you, today, Is teach me how to pray. Lord, teach me how to pray. Give me the words to say. I need Your forgiveness More personal gain, Like that job I've been wanting, or money and fame. Should I would pray down on my knees Or in my room where You alone can see, Lord, all I'm asking You, today, Is teach me how to pray. Recitation: Lord, I think I would ask to be closer to you, To be more Godlike, and for things that would please You. I would surely ask for Your forgiveness as well as for your other blessings, too. Yes, Lord, I believe I would pray for all of these things and most of all for strength to do what you've called me to do. Now, Lord, I wouldn't forget to pray for my preacher, who breaks the Bread of Life and Your precious word, the Bible. For in it you said: "Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you." And Your Word also tells me, "Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers." Sing: Lord, teach me how to pray. Give me the words to say. I would pray for world peace And for hunger to cease, And wisdom for our leaders every day. I would pray for my children, dear, And my friends both far and near. Lord, all I'm asking you, today, Is teach me how to pray. Words by Johnny Whaley and Marjorie Reece Music by Marjorie Reece (c) 1986 by TJM
Lord, Teach Me How To Pray

I included this song and scripture because many young Believers are not sure how to begin praying for themselves and others. That's why we need to read the Bible and obtain knowledge in all the things of God and what He want us to do. Here is a wonderful scripture on praying. Matthew 6:5-6 - New King James Version "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
